This term we are celebrating individuality and what makes us all different and unique. We made self-portraits using. First we looked in a mirror to find out what colour eyes and hair we had to make our pictures look like us. All our pictures are different just like us!

Te Hapori's new Cafe...
Last week we went to visit the senior students in their new building at Te Hapori in Highland Park. We went to the cafe which is run by the students. We learnt how to order food pay our money at the end. Thank you for having us Te Hapori !Monday, 20 November 2017
Puppets Alive!
Last week we had a travelling puppet show come to our school to teach us about the different puppets that are made. We got to interact and play with many types of puppets from string puppets to puppets that need two people to make it move!

Oozy Slime
We are learning about chemical changes for science this term. First we watched a video on how to make slime, we used a visual recipe to follow each step. When we added the borax and water to the glue we watched the liquid solidify. It was amazing! some of us didn't want to touch the slime and others loved the feeling of the slime oozing through our hands.

Boccia
Welcome to term 4. We have a very busy term ahead with the film festival and our end of year celebrations. This term we are learning about time for maths, we are also learning about chemical changes for science. For sport we are learning how to play Boccia, here are some photos of us on our second session. We are learning the rules of the game and technique from our instructor Martin.

Pop Tennis Sucess
This term we have been going to the tennis club for lessons with our instructor Martin. All of the boys have made progress this term but Conrad in particular has amazed us all with his tennis skills. Here is a video of him playing a tennis with Martin. The concentration and hand eye coordination involved in tennis can be challenging. Well done Conrad!

Old and New at Motat
Last Friday we went on a trip to Motat to learn about "old and new" things. Our educator, Abby, took us to a room for us to explore lots of different items that were from the olden days. We dressed up in old clothing, we practiced writing with a quill, we played with old toys and different household items from the olden days. After exploring Motat we got to go on the tram, what a fun day we had.

Visit to the Library
Each week we go the school library at Tamaki Primary to get some books out to read in class.We love reading with Mrs Micic and exploring all the different books in the library.

Marble Park and Playground
Two weeks ago we went with Room 2 to the Marble Park as part of our topic, "Old and New".We enjoyed putting marbles down the track and trying to find which direction it had gone. Thanks for a lovely outing Room 2!

Drama with Genevieve
This term we have been working with some other classes at base on a very special performance with our Drama teacher Genevieve.We will be performing at the Te Oro (Arts Centre in Glen Innes) at the end of this term.

Count and Match
Todia has been working on counting a group of objects and finding the corresponding number. Learning how to count 1:1 is a tricky skill. Todia was able to complete this activity with no support to show that he has mastered this skill. Well done Todia, we are so proud of how much you have learnt this year.

Beginning and Ending Sounds
Hugo has been working very hard on his beginning and ending sounds. In this activity he has to identify if the "n" sound is at the beginning or end of the word. Well done Hugo, this was a very challenging activity!

Splatter Painting by Jackson Pollack
This term we are learning about famous artists. We did a painting style by Jackson Pollack. We used sticks, straws and paintbrushes to drip paint on paper. We had so much fun. Check out this video of us creating our masterpieces!

Just Keep Swimming!
This term we are lucky enough to get funding so we can continue our lessons with Helen. We continue to make huge gains in our swimming skills which is fundamental for swimming safety in a country like New Zealand with lots of beaches. Look at us working with small groups in the big pool.

Making patterns
New term and new learning. The students at Tamaki Primary are learning how to make patterns and complete patterns this term for maths. To start the term we did a rotation of different activities to see what we were able to do. We did some activities on the smart-
board, finished the pattern on laminated mats using play dough and did some pattern making games too. Watch over the term to see what other fun learning we do to learn about patterns!

Building a Sky Tower
We have been learning about important places in Auckland. After our trip to Auckland City last Wednesday we used different boxes and containers to build a tall tower. We enjoyed knocking it down too. Look at the tall buildings we made.

Making Maths Fun!
In our classroom we love to play games, use our hands and move around the classroom. It doesn't feel like were doing maths because we are having so much fun. Todia is building a tall tower by counting to 20, Ricky is adding two numbers together by putting pom poms in the cups and Conrad is learning ordinal numbers by playing a car racing game. Learning is fun at Tamaki Primary Satellite!

Trip to the Sky Tower
We are learning about important places in Auckland. We went for a trip to the Sky Tower and then drove through the Domain on the way home. The Sky Tower was so tall! We walked over the glass which was very scary and saw someone doing the a Bungy Jump and the Sky Walk.

Games, Games and more Games!
We practice social skills throughout the day but we also spend time teaching and learning how to appropriately communicate with each other, learning skills like turn taking and following rules. We are getting much better at playing without adult support. Go Tamaki Primary!
